How many of you think twice before posting things on Social Networking sites? We post photos, personal thoughts, our whereabouts and much more things on social networking sites… But are we really comfortable about it when we realize that there are many people whom we don’t know personally or people whom we may not be so comfortable with or even who may take advantage of what has been posted?
Path is a personal social networking site which limits the number of friends to 50. This number of 50 is based on the research done by Robin Dunbar, an Oxford University Professor of Evolutionary Psychology. He is the originator of the “Dunbar Number” (150 is the common value used) which is the number of people with whom one can maintain a stable social relationship. A post in the company’s blog states “50 is roughly the outer boundary of our personal networks. These are the people we trust, whom we are building trust with, and whom we consider to be the most important and valued people in our lives.” It also stated “Because your personal network is limited to your 50 closest friends and family, you can always trust that you can post any moment, no matter how personal. Path is a place where you can be yourself.”
Path is currently launched for the iPhone but later on they may launch Path for other phones as well!
So did you check out Path? Isn’t it an interesting and a unique concept? How do you find it? Let me know…
