Bloomberg reported that Kuwait plans to build a new passenger terminal to triple capacity at its international airport at an estimated cost of KWD 213 million.
Mr Faisal Al Ostad at the Ministry of Public Works said that the new airport terminal, planned for completion by November 2016 will have an annual capacity of 13 million passengers, taking Kuwait’s total to 20 million passengers.
Mr Al Ostad said that 4 companies from the UK, France, Germany and the US submitted bids for the design phase of the project. He declined to disclose the value of the design contract for which the ministry is in the process of choosing the winning bidder and plans to sign in December.
He said that the ministry will issue a tender in May 2012 for an engineering, procurement and construction contract for the terminal.
