The International Women’s Group(IWG) held a Ghabqa to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan with the members of the Group at the Radisson SAS Hotel on Sunday.
The International Women Group(IWG) begins its activities every year in September after summer. Narjes Al-Shatti, Board Member of the International Women’s Group said, “the group celebrates occasions all over the year, so we celebrate Ramadan by holding Ghabqas. This helps us know more about Arab and Islamic food all over the world because the wives of Muslim Ambassadors are members with the International Women’s Group.
Also we are holding this Ghabqa to learn more about each other because there are new members who have joined us recently. It is an opportunity to let them know about the Girgian, Ghabqa and Ramadan in Kuwait, as well as traditional Kuwaiti food consumed during Ramadan.” Al-Shatti added.
During the event, Narjes Al-Shatti specifically mentioned the Girgian that Sheikha Shoa’a Al-Sabah, a member of the group, would give others. This year, the granddaughter of Sheikha Shoa’a Al-Sabah, Noura Ali Khaled Al-Sabah recounted he r childhood experiences.
The new president of the International Women Group, Karen, wife of the Canadian Ambassador to Kuwait appreciated Sheikha Noura Ali Khaled Al-Sabah’s presentation and honored her for her participation. The members wore colorful Daraas to join in the festivities.
