What are Startup programs
Startup Programs are the programs that automatically starts up when you turn on your computer. But there are other programs which load some of the their components at start up, even if they are used or not.
Problems with start up programs
Some of the start up programs, eats up a lot of the computer memory and causes the system to run slower and effects its performance. If there are any malwares or spywares in your computer, it will automatically be loaded on startup. Hence you need to check which programs are there in startup and disable the startup programs which are not critical to the performance of the computer.
How do we disable start up programs
Type msconfig in the window as shown above.
The list of programs that are loaded at startup would be displayed in the window. Here you could deselect the ones that you would like to disable on startup and click Apply and OK. You need to ensure the ones that you deselect are not the critical ones.
When you click OK, you will get a prompt to restart the computer. Once you restart the computer, the changes will take place.
So once these steps are followed you will be able to remove the unwanted programs from startup and improve the computer’s performance.
