Twitter, a social networking and micro blogging service, has gained considerable following since its launch in July 2006. With its membership count estimated at 200 million, it is no longer a platform for mere social interactions. Savvy businesses and organizations have exploited its potential to reach out to the masses and showcase their stuff. What with the adage about mixing personal and professional lives, Twitter users have taken to creating multiple accounts in order to keep their personal and professional persona different. That is not to say that users haven’t created multiple accounts, each for different circles of friends, or for different business ventures. Whatever the reason, it is safe to assume that a good percentage of Twitter users have more than one account.
Originally Twitter did not support multiple accounts, which meant that a user had to sign in and out each time the user needed to switch between the different accounts. This pesky little problem has been solved, thanks to a host of Twitter clients that have mushroomed over the web. Some are web based, some desktop, a few browser add-ons, and others specific to mobile applications. Tabled below are some of these.
